Yesterday Brianna did not have school, so she slept until after 11:00. Then she came in to where I was at the computer and hugged me good morning. I said, "Did you sleep well?" She said, "Yes--and I've already said a thank you prayer before I got out of bed." I smiled and said, "Was it a thank you for being able to sleep late today?" She said, "Mommy," in that musical tone that indicates both patience and pity when I have failed to grasp the most obvious details. Then she said, "I thanked God for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr."
